About The Position

Brock University, recognized as a Top Employer in Hamilton-Niagara and for diversity and company culture, is seeking a Teaching Assistant for the ITIS 3P98 Spring D1 course. The university is located on the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabe peoples. This position is part of the CUPE4207-1 Employee Group and is governed by the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement. Compensation for Teaching Assistant positions is based on qualifications, with an undergraduate rate of $23.30 per hour for those without a 4-year honours or 3-year pass degree, and a graduate rate of $36.67 per hour for those who hold such degrees (rates effective September 1, 2026). Additional duties required as part of the role will be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate. Requirements

  • Previous experience as a TA
  • Knowledge of the database software - MS-SQL SERVER
  • Knowledge of MS-Office applications, particularly: MS-EXCEL and MS-ACCESS
  • Familiarity with the basic functions of Sakai to guide students with the uploading and/or downloading of files related to lab practices, assignments and lab tests
  • Academic Integrity and Professionalism
  • Proven track record of working effectively and completing assigned tasks in a timely manner

Responsibilities

  • Scheduled contact time with students
  • Non-classroom time, including preparation of seminar material
  • Student consultation
  • Marking or grading
  • Examination proctoring
  • Attending lectures
  • Holding office hours
  • Other course administration as may be required
