About The Position

This job advertisement is for a Teaching Assistant position at Brock University, located on the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabe peoples. The position is part of the CUPE4207-1 Employee Group and is compensated hourly based on the employee's qualifications, with an undergraduate rate of $23.30 per hour and a graduate rate of $36.67 per hour (effective September 1, 2026). Duties are in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement. Brock University is a comprehensive institution with nearly 600 full-time faculty members, offering over 70 undergraduate and 50 graduate programs to 19,000 students from around the world, with a strong emphasis on experiential education, community partnerships, and co-op programs. Requirements

  • Previous experience as a TA
  • Knowledge of specific software
  • Must have completed MBAB5P11 and MBAB5P12 in the MBA program or MSCM 5P74 in the MSc program with a grade above 80%
  • Must have knowledge of programming and the data mining and statistical software – Python, WEKA, ORANGE, SPSS
  • Must have knowledge of MS-office applications, visualization and data management tools, particularly: MS-EXCEL, MS-ACCESS, SQL, POWER BI
  • Must be familiar with the basic functions of Bright Space to guide students with the uploading and/or downloading of files related to lab practices, assignments and lab tests
  • Academic Integrity and Professionalism
  • Proven track record of working effectively and completing assigned tasks in a timely manner

Responsibilities

  • Scheduled contact time with students
  • Non-classroom time (including preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration as may be required)
  • Guide students with the uploading and/or downloading of files related to lab practices, assignments and lab tests using Bright Space
