About The Position

Brock University is seeking a Teaching Assistant for HIST 2P91 Europe’s Reformations, 1450-1650 for the Winter term. This position is within the CUPE4207-1 employee group. The compensation rate depends on the employee's qualifications, with an undergraduate rate of $23.30 per hour and a graduate rate of $36.67 per hour (effective September 1, 2026). Additional duties will be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate. The duties and responsibilities are in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement, and include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time such as preparation, student consultation, marking, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration.

Requirements

  • A History M.A. or equivalent, with an 80% average.
  • Demonstrated, extensive knowledge of Early Modern European History.
  • Demonstrated, extensive knowledge of Christian History.
  • Evidence of successful previous university-level teaching assistant experience facilitating and evaluating historical role-playing
  • Ability to articulate and evaluate the basic concepts of historiography.
  • Demonstrated organizational and effective communication skills including the ability to explain subject material to students, be punctual in attending classes, and meet appropriate deadlines.
