About The Position

Brock University is seeking a Teaching Assistant for the CHYS 3P39 Winter D3 course, Children, Youth and the Law. This position is part of the CUPE4207-1 employee group. The role involves scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom duties such as preparing seminar material, student consultation, marking, grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration. The Teaching Assistant must be able to attend the last hour of lecture each week.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3rd Year complete in the CHYS BA or CHYS BA/BEd program, or be entering and/or continuing in the CHYS MA or CHYS PhD program.
  • Must have previously completed CHYS 3P39 or equivalent, and obtained 80% or higher. Previous successful experience as a Teaching Assistant for CHYS 3P39 will be considered as equivalent.
  • Must have effective communication skills including the ability to explain subject material to students.
  • Provide, if available, an evaluation of successful previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or Marker-Grader.
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • It is the applicant’s responsibility to identify the course for consideration of equivalency. For courses taken at Brock, identify the course (i.e., XXXX 3P00). For courses taken elsewhere provide a copy of your transcript, highlight the course and provide the course description. Failure to provide the required documentation to support the request for consideration of equivalency will result in an incomplete application.
