About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy for a Teaching Assistant position in CHYS 2P38 for the Winter term. The role involves assisting with scheduled contact time with students, preparing seminar material, student consultation, marking assignments and exams, proctoring examinations, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration. The position is governed by the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement. Requirements

  • Minimum 3rd Year complete in the CHYS BA or CHYS BA/BEd program, or be entering and/or continuing in the CHYS MA or CHYS PhD program.
  • Must have previously completed CHYS 2P38 or equivalent, and obtained 80% or higher.
  • Previous successful experience as a Teaching Assistant for CHYS 2P38 will be considered as equivalent.
  • Must have effective communication skills including the ability to explain subject material to students.
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.

  • Provide, if available, an evaluation of successful previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or Marker-Grader.

Responsibilities

  • Scheduled contact time with students
  • Preparation of seminar material
  • Student consultation
  • Marking or grading assignments, presentations, term projects, case reports, midterms, progress exams, and/or final exams
  • Providing written feedback to students on their submissions
  • Examination proctoring
  • Attending lectures
  • Holding office hours
  • Other course administration as may be required
  • Attend in-person orientation meetings in September and January
  • Attend weekly TA meetings
  • Attend in-person tests and exams
  • Meet with the instructor between the hours of 8 AM and 5 PM
