Teaching Assistant HLSC 4P50 Fall D2-8
About The Position
Brock University is seeking a Teaching Assistant for the HLSC 4P50 course for the Fall D2-8 term. This position is part of the CUPE4207-1 employee group. The role involves scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom duties such as preparing seminar material, student consultation, marking, proctoring exams, holding office hours, and other course administration. Compensation is based on qualifications, with an undergraduate rate of $23.30 per hour and a graduate rate of $36.67 per hour (effective September 1, 2026). Additional duties will be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate.
Requirements
- An undergraduate degree in Health Sciences or related discipline.
- Completed this course within the last three years.
- Effective communication skills including the ability to explain subject material to students and provide constructive feedback.
- Punctual in attending classes.
- Able to meet appropriate deadlines.
- Experience or training with synchronous and asynchronous course support.
- Proficiency with online delivery tools (e.g., Lifesize, Microsoft Teams, Brightspace), computer spreadsheets (e.g., Excel), and electronic audience response systems.
- Available to provide feedback in person and, when required, online.
Nice To Haves
- Fourth year (honours) standing students in Health Sciences or related discipline will be considered if vacancies remain.
- Experience leading seminars is an asset.
