About The Position

Brock University is seeking a Teaching Assistant for the CHYS 2P10 Fall D2 - Child and Youth Development course. This position involves scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom duties such as preparing seminar material, student consultation, marking and grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration. The role also includes Marker-Grader responsibilities, requiring the marking of assignments, term projects, case reports, midterms, progress exams, and/or final exams, with the expectation of providing clear written feedback to students. The Teaching Assistant must be available to meet with the Instructor as necessary between 9 AM and 5 PM.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3rd Year complete in the CHYS BA or CHYS BA/BEd program, or be entering and/or continuing in the CHYS MA or CHYS PhD program.
  • Must have previously completed CHYS 2P10 or equivalent, and obtained 80% or higher.
  • Must have effective communication skills including the ability to explain subject material to students.
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Provide, if available, an evaluation of successful previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or Marker-Grader.
  • It is the applicant’s responsibility to identify the course for consideration of equivalency. For courses taken at Brock, identify the course (i.e., XXXX 3P00). For courses taken elsewhere provide a copy of your transcript, highlight the course and provide the course description. Failure to provide the required documentation to support the request for consideration of equivalency will result in an incomplete application.
