About The Position

Brock University is seeking to fill an existing vacancy for a Teaching Assistant for the course French as a Second Language II (JR/IN) for the Fall/Winter D10 term. This position is within the CUPE4207-1 Employee Group. Teaching Assistant positions are paid according to qualifications, with rates effective September 1, 2026. Employees without a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate of $23.30 per hour. Employees with a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate of $36.67 per hour. Additional duties will be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate. The duties and responsibilities are in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement, and include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time such as preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration.

Requirements

Achieved a minimum of 80% in the course
At least third- or fourth-year students currently enrolled in an Honours BA or Honours BSc, or BEd (P/J, J/I, I/S), or who have completed an equivalent
Speak and write fluently in French
Previous successful experience teaching French (Core or Immersion) at the junior/intermediate level
Effective communication skills including the ability to explain subject material to students
Punctual in attending classes
Able to meet appropriate deadlines
