About The Position
This is a new position for a Teaching Assistant/Demonstrator/Lab Monitor (CUPE) for the Microbiology course NUT3507, Section A01 (LAB) during the 2026 Fall Semester. The work is to be performed at 200 Lees - FHS, Faculty of Health Sciences, School of Nutrition Sciences. The position involves laboratory demonstrations, answering student questions, grading lab reports, and training with the professor. The total work hours are 65, with a specific availability requirement on Mondays from 12:30 to 15:30. The hourly rate depends on the student's academic level: $31.89 for undergraduate students and $50.25 for graduate students (2024-2025 rates). The academic year runs from September 1 to August 31. The hiring process will follow the CUPE 2626 collective agreement.
Requirements
- Completed a Master's degree in microbiology or a related field.
- Experience with laboratory techniques in microbiology.
- Excellent command of spoken and written French.
- If the degree is in an equivalent field, the candidate must clearly explain in their CV how their academic training is related to food microbiology.
- Must be available on Mondays from 12:30 to 15:30.
- Must complete all mandatory legislated training offered by the University.
