2027-28 Teacher Resident

Alliance College-Ready Public Schools•Los Angeles, CA
•Onsite

About The Position

Alliance College-Ready Public Schools, in collaboration with Marshall Teacher Residency, offers a one-year, hands-on teacher residency program. Residents spend four days per week at an Alliance school working with scholars and one full day per week attending teacher credential coursework. For the 2027–28 residency year, applications are limited to candidates pursuing a Single Subject credential in Mathematics, Science, or English Language Arts, or an Education Specialist (Special Education) credential. Residents are student interns, not employees of Alliance or Marshall. Residents learn alongside experienced educators, receive guidance from mentor teachers, and participate in Marshall credential coursework. Upon successful completion of program and credential requirements, residents earn a California Preliminary Teaching Credential and may pursue opportunities to become full-time Alliance teachers. The program develops residents’ ability to provide college-preparatory instruction, implement and prepare standards-aligned curriculum and lessons, use assessment data to guide differentiated instruction, and build supportive classroom cultures. Residents are expected to welcome coaching and feedback and to build strong relationships with scholars, families, faculty, staff, and alumni. The role supports Alliance’s mission to serve systemically underserved Los Angeles communities through anti-racist, pro-Black, student-centered teaching. Alliance anticipates offering 10 placements for the academic year: nine Alliance scholarship placements with up to $52,500 in combined financial support and one Marshall-funded placement with a $32,000 living stipend. Financial support is subject to funding, program requirements, and availability; application does not guarantee admission or an award.
