PK Teacher Assistants
About The Position
Leading Edge is hiring a Teacher Assistant for its PreK before- and after-care programs at PBP Cheesequake and PBP Selover in Sayreville, New Jersey. The role supports children ages 3 and 4 in a warm, play-based setting focused on social-emotional development and school readiness. The primary schedule is Monday through Friday from 1:25 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.; morning hours from 6:55 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. may be needed, as well as early-dismissal days starting at 11:30 a.m. (about once a month). Work may be up to about 30 hours per week, depending on enrollment and availability. The listed pay for Teaching Assistants is $17+ per hour. The Teacher Assistant implements the Leading Edge curriculum through age-appropriate activities and helps maintain a safe, clean, engaging classroom while supporting children’s routines, learning, and well-being. The position also includes communication with families and school staff and completion of attendance and licensing paperwork. Childcare or early childhood experience is preferred.
Requirements
- Must be 18 or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Available Monday through Friday and able to start at 1:25 p.m.
- Genuine passion for working with preschool-aged children.
- Reliable transportation.

Responsibilities
- Implement the Leading Edge curriculum through age-appropriate, play-based activities.
- Support young children with routines, transitions, snack time, and self-care.
- Foster social-emotional growth, early literacy, fine motor skills, and positive behavior.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and engaging classroom environment.
- Maintain program quality according to company and New Jersey state licensing standards.
- Maintain appropriate child-to-teacher ratios at all times.
- Communicate warmly and professionally with families and school staff.
- Complete administrative tasks such as attendance and licensing paperwork.
