About The Position

Bird & Blend Tea Co. is an eco-conscious, people-focused, award-winning and B Corp-certified tea company focused on tea mixology. The Tea Mixologist creates a fun, interactive and exceptional customer experience by preparing tea-based drinks and sharing knowledge and enthusiasm about the company and its tea blends. The role also includes retail sales assistant tasks such as cleaning, stocktaking, opening and closing duties, and sampling products in and outside the store and at events. This is a part-time temporary role at Bird & Blend in Lincoln, working 8 hours per week and reporting to the Store Manager. The contract ends on 24 December 2026. Shifts may vary from week to week and include weekends and some evenings.

Requirements

Prior customer service experience; experience in a one-to-one retail or hospitality sales environment is preferred.
Represent the brand and its culture, embodying its values and inspiring others to do the same.
Genuine passion for the products and confidence sharing that enthusiasm with customers.
Strong customer service understanding and the ability to build rapport and connect confidently with customers.
Maintain professional, fair and kind relationships with customers and colleagues.
Use empathy to manage interpersonal relationships and contribute to a positive and inclusive experience.
Flexible availability to work varying weekly shifts across different days and times, including weekends and some evenings.
Commitment to going above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction.
Confidence and comfort approaching people with samples inside and outside the store.

Responsibilities

Use enthusiasm for Bird & Blend to sell products and achieve store sales targets.
Handle till transactions smoothly and accurately.
Follow store operating procedures, including deliveries, stocktakes and stock replenishment, and keep the stockroom and staff area organised.
Maintain a healthy, safe and tidy work environment by following health and safety best practices.
Support the company in reaching impact goals set out in its sustainability and impact strategy.
Work empathetically and collaboratively, supporting the store management team as needed.
Develop expertise in Bird & Blend products, drinks, sustainability and ethics.
Greet customers warmly and positively, including offering samples.
Prioritise customer happiness and make shopping experiences memorable.
Support store and local events, including evening work.
Promote the company’s teas through sampling inside and outside the store and at external events.
