About The Position

Assisting Hands Home Care – Merrillville is seeking an experienced, dependable caregiver for a client in Winfield/Crown Point, Indiana. The caregiver will provide non-medical, one-on-one care in the client’s home from November 7–15, 2026, working 8 AM–2 PM daily, including weekends. Tagalog communication skills are required to discuss the client’s daily care needs. Applicants of all nationalities and backgrounds are welcome. This is an hourly, non-exempt position. Care is guided by the client’s individualized care plan and may include personal care, mobility assistance, companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, observation and reporting, and care documentation using a mobile app. The role does not include medication administration. Additional assignments may be available based on client needs, qualifications, and availability. The employer offers paid orientation, ongoing training, and support from a local office team, including 24/7 on-call support.

Requirements

Ability to communicate effectively in Tagalog about daily care needs.
High school diploma or GED.
At least two years of paid caregiving experience in a home care setting or a similar paid caregiving role.
Reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and proof of auto insurance.
Current CPR certification and TB test before a client assignment.
Comfort using a smartphone for scheduling, communication, and documentation.
Dependable attendance, clear communication, and a compassionate, professional approach.
Complete required background screening, onboarding, and orientation before starting the assignment.

Responsibilities

Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, and other personal care needs according to the client’s individualized care plan.
Support safe walking and transfers according to the care plan and training.
Assist with walkers, wheelchairs, and other mobility equipment.
Provide companionship, conversation, and social engagement in Tagalog.
Prepare meals and assist with light housekeeping, laundry, and organization.
Provide medication reminders; medication administration is not included.
Observe and report changes in the client’s condition, appearance, or behavior.
Use the mobile app to clock in and out, communicate with the office, and document care.
Follow infection prevention practices, safety procedures, and agency policies.
Maintain client dignity, confidentiality, and professional conduct.
