About The Position

Assisting Hands Home Care – Merrillville is seeking an experienced, dependable Tagalog-speaking caregiver to provide non-medical, one-on-one care in a client’s home in Winfield/Crown Point, Indiana. This hourly, non-exempt assignment runs November 7–15, 2026, from 8 AM to 2 PM daily, including weekends. Tagalog communication skills are required to discuss the client’s daily care needs. Additional assignments may be available based on client needs, qualifications, and availability. Care may include personal care, mobility assistance, companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, laundry, medication reminders, and documenting and reporting client needs or changes. The caregiver must follow the individualized care plan, safety and infection-prevention practices, agency policies, and standards for client dignity, confidentiality, and professional conduct. The position requires completion of screening, onboarding, and orientation before the assignment begins. Assisting Hands Home Care provides in-home care intended to help people remain safe, independent, and comfortable in their homes. Requirements

Ability to communicate effectively in Tagalog about daily care needs.
High school diploma or GED.
At least two years of paid caregiving experience in a home care setting or a similar paid caregiving role.
Reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and proof of auto insurance.
Current CPR certification and TB test before a client assignment.
Comfort using a smartphone for scheduling, communication, and documentation.
Dependable attendance, clear communication, and a compassionate, professional approach.
Complete required background screening, onboarding, and orientation before starting the assignment.

Responsibilities

Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, and other personal care needs according to the client’s care plan.
Support safe walking and transfers in accordance with the care plan and training.
Assist with walkers, wheelchairs, and other mobility equipment.
Provide companionship, conversation, and social engagement in Tagalog.
Prepare meals and assist with light housekeeping, laundry, and organization.
Provide medication reminders; medication administration is not included in this role.
Observe and report changes in the client’s condition, appearance, or behavior.
Use the mobile app to clock in and out, communicate with the office, and document care.
Follow infection-prevention practices, safety procedures, and agency policies.
Maintain client dignity, confidentiality, and professional conduct.
