About The Position

Assisting Hands Home Care – Merrillville is seeking an experienced, dependable Tagalog-speaking caregiver to provide non-medical, one-on-one care in a client’s home in Winfield/Crown Point, Indiana. The scheduled assignment runs November 7–15, 2026, from 8 AM to 2 PM daily, including weekends. Tagalog communication skills are required to discuss the client’s daily care needs. Additional assignments may be available depending on client needs, qualifications, and availability. This hourly, non-exempt role supports seniors and adults in remaining safe, comfortable, and supported at home. Care is provided according to the client’s individualized care plan and may include personal care, mobility support, companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, and reporting changes in condition. The role does not include medication administration. Caregivers use a mobile app for timekeeping, office communication, and care documentation, and follow infection prevention practices, safety procedures, and agency policies. The employer offers paid orientation, ongoing training, a responsive local office team with 24/7 on-call support, and opportunities for additional assignments. Requirements

Ability to communicate effectively in Tagalog about daily care needs.
High school diploma or GED.
At least two years of paid caregiving experience in a home care setting or similar paid caregiving role.
Reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and proof of auto insurance.
Current CPR certification and TB test before a client assignment.
Comfort using a smartphone for scheduling, communication, and documentation.
Dependable attendance, clear communication, and a compassionate, professional approach.
Completion of required background screening, onboarding, and orientation before starting the assignment.

Responsibilities

Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, and other personal care needs according to the client’s care plan.
Support safe walking and transfers in accordance with the care plan and training.
Assist with walkers, wheelchairs, and other mobility equipment.
Provide companionship, conversation, and social engagement in Tagalog.
Prepare meals and help with light housekeeping, laundry, and organization.
Offer medication reminders; medication administration is not part of the role.
Observe and report changes in the client’s condition, appearance, or behavior.
Use the mobile app to clock in and out, communicate with the office, and document care.
Follow infection prevention practices, safety procedures, and agency policies.
Maintain client dignity, confidentiality, and professional conduct.
