About The Position

This role designs, implements, and optimizes enterprise observability solutions across infrastructure, applications, cloud platforms, services, and operational technology environments. It improves monitoring, telemetry, alerting, dashboards, automation, and service health visibility to support operational excellence and faster issue detection. The role partners with infrastructure, application, cybersecurity, network, and operations teams to identify observability gaps, resolve complex issues, and define monitoring requirements for new and existing technologies. It also provides technical leadership through mentoring, documentation, standards development, and continuous improvement of observability practices. The position may be filled as either a Systems Analyst II or Systems Analyst III. The level offered will be determined at hire based on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, and demonstrated capabilities. The role requires significant enterprise IT and observability experience, strong technical collaboration and communication, and the ability to work independently while managing operational and strategic priorities. The position involves sedentary work, primarily in well-lit, climate-controlled indoor areas with frequent computer-monitor use and repetitive motion. Travel is in and around office facilities; depending on assigned tasks, the employee may be assigned a company vehicle requiring an applicable driver’s license.

  • Experience developing dashboards, alerts, service health views, and KPIs aligned with business, application, and operational needs.
  • Significant experience with enterprise observability, monitoring platforms, and current data center technologies.
  • Experience implementing, supporting, or integrating observability capabilities for infrastructure hardware and platform configuration; IP networking and network telemetry; Windows Server, Unix, or Linux operating systems; shared storage; virtualization; event monitoring, logging, metrics, tracing, and data collection; and public cloud technologies and cloud-native monitoring patterns.
  • Proven track record of mentoring, influencing, and facilitating discussions across teams and technologies.
  • Training and experience related to operating systems software, computer hardware, networking, communications, security administration, and observability tools, telemetry standards, dashboarding, alerting, and automation.
  • Experience identifying, researching, and analyzing core technology problems and performing root cause analysis using observability data.
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting dashboards, event logs, telemetry data, system alerts, error logs, support documentation, and technical correspondence.
  • Experience researching, preparing, and composing operating procedures, observability standards, documentation, reports, and correspondence.
  • Experience interacting with customers, vendors, and cross-functional technical teams to define monitoring requirements and improve operational visibility.
  • Ability to analyze observability data, identify patterns, and translate findings into actionable improvements.
  • Ability to interact with, advise, guide, train, and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to conduct technical discussions, present observability recommendations, and exchange information clearly with support, engineering, and leadership audiences.
  • Ability to balance operational support needs with long-term observability strategy, standardization, and continuous improvement.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with ITIL processes, incident management, change management, and CMDB integration.
  • Experience supporting observability in hybrid, segmented, or air-gapped domains.
  • Background in infrastructure, networking, storage, cloud, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or observability domains.
  • Experience monitoring SCADA systems, operational technology, or other critical operational environments.
  • Exposure to enterprise ticketing systems such as ServiceNow, CMDB relationships, service mapping, and operational support workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and optimize proactive observability solutions across infrastructure, applications, services, cloud platforms, and operational technology environments.
  • Improve alerting, event correlation, telemetry collection, dashboards, and service health views to support operational excellence and faster issue detection.
  • Partner with infrastructure, application support, cybersecurity, network, and operations teams to ensure visibility across critical systems and services.
  • Analyze complex incidents and recurring problems, identify observability gaps, and coordinate personnel to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Provide consultative support on monitoring and observability design for internal teams, projects, and new technology initiatives.
  • Perform root cause analysis on resolved problems and design proactive monitoring, alerting, or automation improvements to prevent recurrence.
  • Mentor and support junior and mid-level monitoring or observability specialists in technical growth, standards adoption, and project execution.
  • Review team members’ configurations, dashboards, alerts, integrations, and automation for quality, consistency, and alignment with observability standards.
  • Lead knowledge-sharing efforts and create internal documentation, runbooks, standards, and SOPs for observability practices.
