About The Position

The Switchboard Operator is responsible for prompt and efficient telephone communications between people inside and outside the organization. The role provides paging announcements using the public address system, greets the public, and gives patients and visitors requested information in accordance with established policy guidelines. The operator manages the paging system and hospital alarm systems and responds to hospital emergency situations. The position works closely with clinical care teams, security, facilities, patients, and members of the public. The operator may also perform or support additional functions within the Patient Access service line and maintain the organization’s master directory.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED is preferred.
Related experience, such as customer service or work as a dispatch or switchboard operator, is preferred.

Nice To Haves

Computer and data-entry experience.
Experience with Microsoft Word, email, and internet communication.
Ability to work accurately and effectively with electronic systems.

Responsibilities
