Switchboard Electrician
About The Position
EP² provides power management systems for commercial and utility industries involved in power generation, transmission, and distribution. The Switchboard Electrician is an essential member of Electrical Power Products, Inc.’s production and assembly team in Des Moines, Iowa. Reporting to the Wiring Foreman, this role performs Journeyman duties and other assigned responsibilities. The electrician reads diagrams and schematics, performs panel wiring, installs instruments and nameplates, uses department tools and equipment, and identifies and reports potential errors or discrepancies in work documents and layouts.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Close attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and good organization.
- Ability to read and use a tape measure.
- Experience using hand and power tools.
- Ability to assist and support others.
Responsibilities
- Read wiring diagrams and schematics.
- Operate department tools and equipment.
- Perform panel wiring, including bunch, bundle, gutter, and form wiring.
- Install and wire instruments using layout sketches, prints, wiring diagrams, or schematics.
- Install various types of nameplates.
- Identify possible errors or discrepancies in layouts, prints, wiring diagrams, and schematics, and bring them to the attention of the proper authority.
- Perform Journeyman duties and other responsibilities of the role.
- Assist and support others.
