About The Position

Hy-Vee is seeking a Sweet Shop Clerk for its Bakery department. Sweet Shop Clerks help keep the shop stocked with fresh, well-presented products while providing friendly, attentive customer service. The role includes taking bakery orders, preparing and replenishing products, maintaining product freshness and a sanitary work area, handling register transactions, and supporting the department and store as needed. Training is provided; no education or experience is required.

Requirements

Follow detailed written or verbal instructions and work through tasks involving a few concrete variables.
Perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately.
Understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
Work effectively as part of a team to deliver a good customer experience.
Frequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areas.
Perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning and sanitation duties.
Where applicable, safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation.
Where applicable, operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards.
No education or experience is required; training is provided.
Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

Greet customers and provide prompt, friendly service, aiming to make each interaction positive.
Take customer orders at the bakery counter and answer product questions using product knowledge.
Review daily orders, anticipate product needs, and prepare, finish, and replenish products as necessary.
Pull products from coolers or freezers for baking and ensure an adequate food supply is ready.
Review food freshness and appearance and maintain a clean, sanitary work area.
Check in products, put them away, and review invoices as needed.
Operate the department register, receive payments, and make change where applicable.
Remove trash promptly and wash dishes as necessary.
Price and order products and deliver orders as needed.
Work with co-workers to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as assigned.
Follow personal hygiene and dress standards and Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines.
Report to work as scheduled and on time.
