About The Position

Sweet Shop Clerks work in Hy-Vee's bakery, keeping the Sweet Shop stocked with fresh, attractively presented products and providing friendly, attentive customer service. They take bakery counter orders, answer product questions, prepare and replenish products, and help ensure customers have a positive experience. The role also includes maintaining product freshness and a clean, sanitary work area, handling department transactions and deliveries as needed, and supporting coworkers and other store areas. Training is provided; no education or prior experience is required.

Requirements

Follow detailed written or verbal instructions and complete tasks involving a few concrete variables.
Perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately.
Understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
Work effectively as part of a team to deliver a positive customer experience.
Complete a pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly, provide prompt and friendly service, and make each interaction positive.
Take customer orders at the bakery counter and answer questions about products.
Review daily orders, anticipate product needs, and prepare, finish, and replenish products as needed.
Pull products from the cooler or freezer in preparation for baking and ensure adequate food supplies are available.
Check the freshness and appearance of food and maintain a clean, sanitary work area.
Receive and put away products and review invoices as needed.
Operate the department register, accept payment, and make change where applicable.
Remove trash promptly and wash dishes as needed.
Price and order products and deliver orders as needed.
Work with coworkers as a team to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
Assist in other areas of the store and take on special projects as assigned.
Follow personal hygiene and dress standards, Hy-Vee policies, and store guidelines.
Report to work as scheduled and on time.
