Sweet Shop Associate (Part Time, Closing Shifts)
About The Position
The Sweet Shop Associate provides friendly, attentive service and helps customers with orders in person and over the phone. The role supports the sweet shop’s daily operation by keeping candy and chocolate displays fresh, stocked, clean, organized, and visually appealing; packaging, labeling, and stocking sweets; receiving and unpacking deliveries; checking inventory; and assisting with quality control. Associates stay knowledgeable about products, including specialty sugar-free and allergen-friendly options, and may prepare specialty drinks, smoothies, bowls, shakes, ice cream, dipped chocolates, and other products as assigned. The position reports to the Sweet Shop Manager and is expected to model Adams’ customer-service culture and work collaboratively with coworkers and managers. This is a part-time position with shifts from 1 PM or 2 PM to 8 PM. The schedule needs include Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, plus one weekend day per week. Applicants must be at least 18 because the role involves using blenders and cutlery.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old because the position involves using blenders and cutlery.
- Knowledge of, or willingness to learn about, the candy, sweets, and products offered.
- Excellent customer-service and communication skills.
- Ability to understand specialty products for customers avoiding sugar, gluten, or nuts.
- Ability to operate Adams’ point-of-sale systems.
- Willingness to work collaboratively and communicate with coworkers and managers.
- Enthusiasm, positivity, and/or knowledge about Adams’ products and quality.
- Ability to move, adjust, and position items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to remain in a stationary position for the duration of a shift.
- Ability, when necessary, to ascend and descend a stepstool, stepladder, and/or ladder.
- Ability to perform repetitive motions involving the wrists, hands, and/or fingers for the duration of a shift.
- Ability to communicate with others to exchange information and move into different positions, including in tight or confined spaces.
- Availability for shifts from 1 PM or 2 PM to 8 PM, including Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and one weekend day per week.
Responsibilities
- Deliver friendly, helpful service and assist customers with orders in person and over the phone.
- Package, label, and stock candy and sweets, ensuring products are fresh, properly rotated, and well-presented.
- Maintain a clean and organized department, including displays, shelves, and prep areas.
- Stay informed about products, including specialty sugar-free and allergen-friendly options.
- Receive and unpack deliveries and check product inventory on the sales floor and in the cases.
- Check packaging, dates, and overall product presentation as part of quality control.
- Help maintain candy displays, self-serve bins, and pre-packaged items.
- Make specialty drinks, smoothies, bowls, and shakes, and serve ice cream.
- When assigned, make dipped chocolates and other products needed for the sweet shop sales floor and cases.
- Demonstrate Adams’ culture and values and communicate and collaborate with coworkers and managers.
