About The Position

The Sweet Shop Associate provides friendly, attentive service and helps customers with orders in person and over the phone. The role keeps candy and chocolate displays fresh, well-stocked, clean, organized, and visually appealing, while ensuring products are properly packaged, labeled, rotated, and presented. Associates stay informed about products, including specialty options for customers with dietary needs, and help maintain product quality and inventory. The position may also involve preparing specialty drinks, smoothies, bowls, shakes, and ice cream, as well as making dipped chocolates and other products when assigned. Adams emphasizes a warm, welcoming, respectful, and collaborative workplace. Associates are expected to reflect the company’s service culture, put customer needs first, and provide knowledgeable assistance. The role is part-time, with shifts generally starting at 1 PM or 2 PM and ending at 8 PM. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday shifts are needed, along with one weekend day each week.

Requirements

Must be 18 or older due to the use of blenders and cutlery.
Knowledge of, or willingness to learn about, all candy, sweets, and products offered.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Understand specialty products for customers seeking sugar-free, gluten-free, or nut-free options.
Ability to operate Adams’ point-of-sale systems.
Willingness to collaborate and communicate with a team of coworkers and managers.
Demonstrate enthusiasm, positivity, and/or knowledge about Adams’ products and quality.
Ability to move, adjust, and position items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to remain in a stationary position for the duration of a shift.
When necessary, ability to ascend and descend a stepstool, stepladder, and/or ladder.
Ability to perform repetitive motions involving the wrists, hands, and/or fingers for the duration of a shift.
Ability to communicate with others to exchange information and move into different positions, including in tight or confined spaces.
Availability for shifts from 1 PM or 2 PM to 8 PM on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, plus one weekend day per week.

Responsibilities

Provide friendly, helpful service and assist customers with orders in person and over the phone.
Package, label, and stock candy and sweets, ensuring items are fresh, properly rotated, and well-presented.
Maintain a clean and organized department, including displays, shelves, and prep areas.
Stay informed about products, including specialty items such as sugar-free or allergen-friendly options.
Receive and unpack deliveries and check inventory on the sales floor and in the cases.
Assist with quality control by checking packaging, dates, and overall presentation.
Help with candy displays, self-serve bins, and pre-packaged items.
Make specialty drinks, smoothies, bowls, and shakes, and serve ice cream.
When assigned, make dipped chocolates and other products needed for the sweet shop sales floor and cases.
Demonstrate Adams’ culture and values and work collaboratively with coworkers and managers.
