About The Position

As a Sushi Clerk in Hy-Vee’s Hy-Chi department, you help fill customer orders, prepare fresh products, and keep the department running smoothly. You contribute to customers’ experiences through attentive customer service and a focus on food safety and product freshness. The role suits someone who takes pride in working with food and can keep pace in a busy environment. The position includes taking orders at the counter and by phone, assisting customers, monitoring product freshness and supplies, preparing and replenishing products, maintaining sanitation and organization, and ordering products and supplies when needed. You work alongside teammates and may assist in other store areas or special projects. Direction and support come from store and department management and service managers. Employment is contingent on successfully completing a pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Food Safety Certification.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, counting, and recording.
Ability to communicate clearly and helpfully with customers and teammates.
Ability to stay organized and keep pace in a busy department.

Six months or more of similar or related experience.

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly and provide helpful service, including learning customers’ names and going the extra mile to make their visits positive.
Take customer orders at the counter and over the phone.
Help customers find products, reach items, and carry heavy purchases.
Review daily orders and monitor product freshness, appearance, and supply levels.
Prepare, finish, and replenish products, pulling items from the cooler or freezer as needed.
Follow sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and organized.
Check in and put away products, label and date items accurately, and remove trash promptly.
Anticipate daily product needs and follow or develop a production list.
Order products and supplies as necessary.
Work with teammates to ensure a positive customer experience.
Follow Hy-Vee’s dress code, hygiene standards, and company policies.
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed.
