About The Position

The Sushi Clerk works in Hy-Vee’s Hy-Chi department, filling customer orders, preparing fresh products, and supporting the department’s daily operations. The role emphasizes food safety, product freshness, customer service, and maintaining a clean, organized work area in a fast-paced environment. The clerk serves customers at the counter and by phone, helps them locate and carry products, monitors orders and inventory, prepares and replenishes products, and orders supplies as needed. The position also requires following sanitation, hygiene, dress-code, and company policies, and may include assisting in other store areas or with special projects. Direction and support come from the listed store and department leaders and service managers.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Food Safety Certification required.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, counting, and recording.
Clear, friendly communication with customers and teammates.
Ability to stay organized and keep pace in a busy department.

Nice To Haves

Six months or more of similar or related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly and provide helpful service.
Take customer orders at the counter and over the phone.
Help customers find products, reach items, and carry heavy purchases.
Review daily orders and monitor product freshness, appearance, and supply levels.
Prepare, finish, and replenish products, retrieving items from coolers or freezers as needed.
Follow sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and organized.
Check in products, put them away, label and date items accurately, and remove trash promptly.
Anticipate daily product needs and follow or develop a production list.
Order products and supplies as necessary.
Work with teammates to provide a smooth, positive customer experience.
Follow the company dress code, hygiene standards, and policies.
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed.
