About The Position

The Sushi Clerk works in Hy-Vee’s Hy-Chi department, helping fill customer orders, prepare fresh product, and keep the department operating smoothly. The role focuses on food safety and freshness, maintaining an organized work area, and providing friendly customer service in a fast-paced environment. The position receives direction and support from store and department leadership.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Food Safety Certification.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Basic math skills, including simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording.
Ability to communicate clearly and helpfully with customers and teammates.
Ability to stay organized and keep pace in a busy department.

Six months or more of similar or related experience.

Responsibilities

Provide outstanding customer service, greet customers, learn their names, and help make each visit positive.
Take customer orders at the counter and over the phone.
Help customers find products, reach items, and carry heavy purchases.
Review daily orders and monitor product freshness, appearance, and supply levels.
Prepare, finish, and replenish product, retrieving items from coolers or freezers as needed.
Follow sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and organized.
Check in and put away products, label and date items accurately, and promptly remove trash.
Anticipate daily product needs and follow or develop a production list.
Order product and supplies as necessary.
Work with teammates to provide a smooth, positive customer experience.
Follow the company dress code, hygiene standards, and policies.
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed.
