About The Position

The Sushi Clerk works in Hy-Vee’s Hy-Chi department, filling customer orders, preparing fresh products, and helping keep the department running smoothly. The role focuses on food safety, product freshness, customer service, and maintaining an organized work area in a fast-paced environment. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and Food Safety Certification. Six months or more of similar or related experience is preferred. Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Food Safety Certification required.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, counting, and recording.
• Clear, friendly communication with customers and teammates.
• Ability to stay organized and keep pace in a busy department.
• Ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation, where applicable.
• Ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards, where applicable.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly and provide helpful service.
• Take customer orders at the counter and over the phone, help customers locate or reach products, and carry heavy purchases when needed.
• Review daily orders and monitor product freshness, appearance, and supply levels.
• Prepare, finish, and replenish products, retrieving items from coolers or freezers as needed.
• Follow sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and organized.
• Receive and put away products, label and date items accurately, and remove trash promptly.
• Anticipate daily product needs and follow or develop a production list.
• Order products and supplies as necessary.
• Work with teammates to support a positive customer experience.
• Follow the company dress code, hygiene standards, and policies.
• Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed.
