About The Position

As a Sushi Clerk in Hy-Vee’s Hy-Chi department, you help fill customer orders, prepare fresh products, and keep the department running smoothly. The role emphasizes food safety, product freshness, sanitation, and friendly customer service in a fast-paced environment. You take orders at the counter and over the phone, help customers locate and carry items, monitor and replenish products, and maintain an organized work area. You may also assist in other store areas and with special projects as needed. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Food Safety Certification required.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Basic math skills for addition, subtraction, counting, and recording.
Clear, friendly communication with customers and teammates.
Ability to stay organized and keep pace in a busy department.
Six months or more of similar or related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly and provide helpful, positive service.
Take customer orders at the counter and over the phone; help customers find or reach products and carry heavy purchases.
Review daily orders and monitor product freshness, appearance, and supply levels.
Prepare, finish, and replenish products, retrieving items from coolers or freezers as needed.
Follow sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and organized.
Receive and put away products, label and date items accurately, and remove trash promptly.
Anticipate daily product needs and follow or develop a production list.
Order products and supplies as necessary.
Work with teammates to support a positive customer experience.
Comply with the company dress code, hygiene standards, and policies.
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed.
