About The Position

The Sushi Clerk works in Hy-Vee’s Hy-Chi department, assisting customers, preparing and replenishing fresh products, and helping keep the department operating smoothly. The role emphasizes customer service, food safety, product freshness, sanitation, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment. The clerk takes orders at the counter and by phone, helps customers locate or handle products, monitors orders and supplies, prepares product, and maintains organized, sanitary work areas. The position also involves receiving, storing, labeling, and dating product; removing trash; anticipating product needs; and ordering supplies as necessary. The clerk may assist in other store areas or with special projects. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Food Safety Certification.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, counting, and recording.
Clear, friendly communication with customers and teammates.
Ability to stay organized and keep pace in a busy department.

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly and provide helpful, friendly service.
Take customer orders at the counter and over the phone.
Help customers find products, reach items, and carry heavy purchases.
Review daily orders and monitor product freshness, appearance, and supply levels.
Prepare, finish, and replenish product, retrieving items from coolers or freezers as needed.
Follow sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and organized.
Receive and put away product, label and date items accurately, and promptly remove trash.
Anticipate daily product needs and follow or develop a production list.
Order product and supplies as necessary.
Work with teammates to provide a smooth customer experience.
Follow the company dress code, hygiene standards, and policies.
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed.
