About The Position

The Sushi Clerk works in Hy-Vee’s Hy-Chi department, helping fill customer orders, prepare fresh product, and keep the department running smoothly. The role emphasizes food safety, product freshness, customer service, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and Food Safety Certification. Six months or more of similar or related experience is preferred. Applicants must be at least 18 years old. Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Food Safety Certification required.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Basic math skills, including simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording.
Clear, friendly communication with customers and teammates.
Ability to stay organized and keep pace in a busy department.
Frequently stand and walk throughout the shift.
Perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning and sanitation duties.
Where applicable, safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation.
Where applicable, operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards.
Complete a pre-employment drug screen successfully.

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly and provide helpful, friendly service.
Take customer orders at the counter and over the phone, and help customers find or reach products and carry heavy purchases.
Review daily orders and monitor product freshness, appearance, and supply levels.
Prepare, finish, and replenish product, retrieving items from coolers or freezers as needed.
Follow sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and organized.
Receive and put away product, label and date items accurately, and remove trash promptly.
Anticipate daily product needs and follow or develop a production list.
Order product and supplies as necessary.
Work with teammates to support a smooth, positive customer experience.
Follow the company dress code, hygiene standards, and policies.
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed.
