About The Position
This is a full-time position for a Surgical Tech in the Surgical Services department, Main OR. The role involves facilitating the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures, preparing the operating suite, assisting surgeons with instruments and supplies, and managing instrument counts. The position requires call duty and is located at UAB St Vincent's Birmingham.
Requirements
- High school diploma equivalency AND completion of a surgical technologist program with a clinical component OR a minimum of 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required.
- BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Nice To Haves
- Associate's degree or technical degree preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year neuro or cardiac experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.
- Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
- Hand required and requested instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery.
- Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
- Maintain instruments in an organized manner and monitor and track instruments counts throughout procedures.
- Assist surgeons provision of hemostasis during surgery.
