About The Position

The Surgical Tech facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures in the Main OR. The role prepares the operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies, provides instruments and supplies to the surgeon during surgery, and assists with patient preparation, transport, positioning, and draping. The Surgical Tech also keeps instruments organized, monitors and tracks instrument counts throughout procedures, and assists surgeons with hemostasis. The position is based at UAB St. Vincent’s Birmingham and is scheduled for four 10-hour day shifts per week. Call is required. A bonus of up to $6,000 is noted. Requirements

High school diploma equivalency and completion of a surgical technologist program with a clinical component, or a minimum of 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience.
BLS Provider certification is preferred; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.

Nice To Haves

Associate's degree or technical degree preferred.
BLS Provider certification preferred.
