About The Position

The Surgical Tech facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures in the Main OR at UAB St. Vincent’s Birmingham. The role prepares the operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies, provides requested instruments and supplies to the surgeon during procedures, and helps prepare, transport, position, and drape patients. The Surgical Tech also keeps instruments organized, monitors and tracks instrument counts throughout procedures, and assists surgeons with hemostasis.

This is a full-time day-schedule position. Eligible positions may receive benefits including paid time off, paid parental leave, an Associate Assistance Program, and tuition reimbursement. The position offers a bonus of up to $6,000.

Requirements

• High school diploma equivalency and completion of a surgical technologist program with a clinical component, or at least four years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience.
• BLS Provider certification is preferred; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.

• Associate’s degree or technical degree preferred.
• BLS Provider certification preferred.
