About The Position
The Surgical Tech - Neuro-Cardiac position at UAB St Vincent's Hospital is responsible for facilitating the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures. This role involves preparing the surgical suite with necessary instruments and supplies, assisting surgeons during procedures by handing instruments and supplies, and aiding in patient preparation, transport, positioning, and draping. The Surgical Tech will also maintain instrument organization, monitor instrument counts, and assist surgeons with hemostasis.
Requirements
- High school diploma equivalency AND completion of a surgical technologist program with a clinical component OR a minimum of 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required.
- BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Nice To Haves
- Associate's degree or technical degree preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year neuro or cardiac experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.
- Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
- Hand required and requested instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery.
- Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
- Maintain instruments in an organized manner and monitor and track instruments counts throughout procedures.
- Assist surgeons provision of hemostasis during surgery.
