About The Position

Adventist HealthCare Medical Group seeks an experienced Surgical Scheduler for its Silver Spring, Maryland location, supporting the AMG – Thoracic Surgery & Urology practice in Rockville. The Scheduler helps coordinate surgical and departmental scheduling and supports insurance verification and pre-authorization workflows. The role is full-time, 40 hours per week, with a Monday–Friday day schedule of either 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. or 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. The position is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two years of experience in medical scheduling, insurance coverage and benefits, or patient access.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Critical-thinking and analytical skills.
• Ability to communicate positively with others.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Bilingual ability.

Responsibilities

• Monitor inbound fax and email traffic and follow through on scheduling tasks, including booking across departments as needed.
• Retrieve voicemails from Live Vox three times a day.
• Cover Scheduler duties during lunches and staffing shortages.
• Assist the Benefits Specialist with insurance verification and obtaining pre-authorizations for cases booked more than 48 hours before the appointment.
• Assist Schedulers with insurance verification and obtaining pre-authorizations for cases booked less than 48 hours before the appointment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
