About The Position
Adventist HealthCare's Medical Group is hiring an experienced Surgical Scheduler for its Silver Spring, Maryland location. The role supports AMG - Thoracic Surgery & Urology in extending the organization's mission of physical, mental, and spiritual healing. The scheduler monitors incoming faxes and email, follows through on scheduling tasks, retrieves voicemails, provides scheduling coverage during lunches and staffing shortages, and helps with insurance verification and pre-authorizations. This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week, non-exempt position with a day shift schedule of Monday through Friday, either 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. or 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. The listed pay range is $20.52–$27.40. Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two years of experience in medical scheduling, insurance coverage and benefits, or patient access.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Critical-thinking and analytical skills.
- Ability to communicate positively with others.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities
- Monitor incoming fax and email traffic and follow through on scheduling tasks, including booking appointments for various departments as needed.
- Retrieve voicemails from Live Vox three times a day.
- Provide scheduler coverage during lunches and staffing shortages.
- Assist the Benefits Specialist with insurance verification and obtaining pre-authorizations for cases booked more than 48 hours before the appointment.
- Assist schedulers with insurance verification and obtaining pre-authorizations for cases booked less than 48 hours before the appointment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
