About The Position

OrthoArizona is an orthopedic group founded in 1994, providing musculoskeletal care through more than two dozen locations and over 75 orthopedic specialists. Its clinics offer services including pain management, physical and hand therapy, athletic performance, X-ray and MRI, and an urgent orthopedic walk-in clinic.

The Surgical Scheduler schedules and coordinates surgeries, communicates with patients, staff, and physicians, and helps ensure the necessary records, equipment, surgical assistants, and anesthesia are arranged. The role also supports patient communications and information updates, prepares surgical materials, maintains physician calendars, and assists with training new staff.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 1 year of medical scheduling experience.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Understand and perform training on practice management software.
• Continue expanding knowledge of practice management software as updates occur.

Nice To Haves

• 2 years of surgery scheduling experience.

Responsibilities

• Schedule, coordinate, and reschedule surgeries.
• Communicate necessary information to patients, staff, and physicians.
• Verify necessary information and record it in patients’ medical records.
• Coordinate equipment, surgical assistants, and anesthesia for surgeries.
• Maintain and update physicians’ calendars.
• Answer and screen telephone calls, clear voicemail, and return patient calls in a timely manner.
• Answer questions about patients’ upcoming surgeries.
• Update patient information.
• Prepare surgical packet materials.
• Assist in training and orienting new staff.
• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures.
