Surgical Coordinator
About The Position
Refocus, an established multi-specialty ophthalmology group, is seeking an organized, patient-focused Surgical Coordinator to manage surgical bookings and schedules. The role supports patients throughout the surgical process and helps ensure effective communication, accurate records, and efficient coordination among patients, surgeons, healthcare professionals, and the surgical team. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., with up to 40 hours per week. The position works at the Hatboro and Penndel locations 4–5 times per month each, and at the North Wales location 4–5 times per month.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a healthcare setting; surgical scheduling or coordination experience is preferred.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and surgical procedures.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Proficiency with computer systems and electronic medical records.
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
- Ability to perform indirect activities, administrative tasks, and other assigned duties that support the medical practice.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with insurance verification processes.
- Four-year degree.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures accurately and efficiently.
- Communicate with patients, surgeons, and healthcare professionals to keep all parties informed.
- Provide compassionate support and guidance to patients throughout the surgical process.
- Handle surgical scheduling inquiries professionally and accurately.
- Obtain and maintain accurate patient information and surgical records.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to support optimal resource allocation.
- Follow HIPAA requirements and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Perform assigned administrative and other duties that contribute to the efficient, high-quality operation of the medical practice.
