About The Position

The Surgery Scheduler supports the surgery center’s mission, vision, and values by scheduling patients’ surgical procedures and maintaining the surgery schedule. The role coordinates clinical and scheduling information with physician offices and surgery center staff to support an organized daily schedule. The position is with Kansas City Urology Surgery Center, an ambulatory surgery center dedicated to urological care.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience in a medical office setting.

Nice To Haves

• One year of medical scheduling experience is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain CPT and ICD-10 diagnosis codes and other clinical information required from physician offices.
• Prepare documentation for Notification of Non-covered Medicare Services or Advance Beneficiary notices, and notify physician offices about these procedures.
• Complete chart requests from Medical Records and notify the Materials Manager or Nurse Manager of physician requests or special equipment needed for upcoming surgeries or procedures.
• Determine the time needed for surgeries in the operating room and work with the OR nurse to streamline the daily schedule.
• Maintain the center block schedule list and arrange necessary anesthesia coverage.
• Call or fax physician offices to notify them of open schedule times that may allow additional cases at the center.
