About The Position

Brigham and Women's Hospital is seeking a Surgical Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to cover a maternity leave. This role involves providing care to adult and geriatric patients in a hospital setting, primarily on the floor, managing post-operative patients from the Step Down OR or ICU. The APP will be responsible for seeing approximately 15-25 patients per shift, performing procedures such as chest tube, blake drain, and pigtail management. Experience with ABG, NGT, and G and J feeding tubes is beneficial. The APP will work independently but will have a fellow available as a resource, especially during busy nights. Responsibilities also include performing histories and physicals for transferred patients. The position requires ACLS certification and the ability to act as a first responder until the fellow arrives.

Requirements

  • Board Certification: NCCPA
  • DEA Required
  • Minimum 1 year of experience required.
  • ACLS certification required.
  • BLS certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ABG, NGT, and G and J feeding tubes is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Manage patients on the floor, including post-operative patients from the Step Down OR or ICU.
  • See approximately 15-25 patients per shift, with a maximum of 25 patients.
  • Perform procedures such as chest tube, blake drain, and pigtail management.
  • Conduct Histories and Physicals (H&P) for patients transferred from other hospitals.
  • Act as a first responder until the fellow can arrive.
  • Collaborate with the night fellow who covers ER, rounds, and consults.
