Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Child and Youth Care (CYC), Social Work, Human Services, or related field.
  • Standard First Aid and CPR.

  • 3+ years’ experience supporting marginalized youth and vulnerable populations
  • 1+ years’ experience managing youth case files and supporting individualized care plans.
  • Knowledge and experience in harm reduction, trauma-informed, resiliency, and solution-focused practices.
  • Strong crisis intervention and de-escalation skills, capable of remaining calm in high-pressure situations.
  • Experience supporting youth facing complex barriers, including mental health, substance use, poverty, trauma, LGBTQ2S+ identities, and newcomer/refugee experiences
  • Proficient in MS Office and database applications.
  • Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check and Intervention Record Check.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct individualized assessments, support youth goal-setting, advocate with external agencies, and maintain accurate case files, operational documentation, and progress records.
  • Build trusting relationships using active listening and strength-based approaches, providing crisis intervention, emotional support, and guidance to help youth make safe, healthy decisions.
  • Assist with daily routines, meals, medication administration, life skills development, and activities that promote the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being of youth.
  • Foster a safe, stable, and supportive home environment by promoting positive behaviour, completing routine wellness checks, and responding effectively to crisis situations using de-escalation techniques.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked home by completing household cleaning, safety inspections, room preparations, and documentation in accordance with licensing, accreditation, and health and safety standards.
  • Maintain positive relationships with families, natural supports, community partners, and the House Leadership Team while communicating youth progress, concerns, and significant incidents.
  • Complete household operations, critical incident reporting, safety checks, and other administrative responsibilities to support the effective day-to-day operation of the home.
