About The Position
A Busser, or Food Runner, oversees setting and clearing tables to provide restaurant patrons with a clean and tidy dining environment. The role works primarily in the dining area, moving between tables to attend to diners and assist waitstaff. Duties include removing used dishes, resetting table settings, replenishing beverages and condiments, delivering meal orders, and cleaning the dining area at the close of day. The position may also involve other duties needed to maintain a clean facility.
Responsibilities
- Remove used plates, glasses, cutlery, and napkins from tables after diners finish eating.
- Wipe water spills, food stains, and dirt from tables.
- Straighten tablecloths or replace stained ones.
- Replace cutlery and glassware in preparation for new diners.
- Refill paper napkins, salt and pepper shakers, and other depleted table condiments.
- Refill diners’ drinking glasses with water.
- Bring meal orders from the kitchen to dining tables.
- Clean the dining area at the close of day.
- Perform additional duties needed to provide a clean facility.
- Assist waitstaff and attend to diners in the dining area.
