About The Position

Under general supervision, assists in maintaining the efficient operation of storeroom and distribution areas in acquiring, storing, controlling, and delivering material throughout the hospital. Maintain adequate inventory levels through ordering, put away, and dispensing of supplies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or higher level of education.
  • Experience in inventory management systems and handheld computers.
  • Strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment.
  • Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.
  • Able to drive a delivery truck with a hydraulic rear lift assembly, knowledge of and experience in operating a forklift and electric pallet jack in a confined area or trained within three (3) months of hire.
  • Basic Math and Keyboard Proficiency.
  • Knowledge of basic Office Equipment such as copier, fax machine, etc.
  • Basic working knowledge of computers and office equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Related training/experience (preferably within the past five years).

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that all receiving functions are carried out, including unpacking items, inspecting for damage or defects, verifying accuracy of shipment, reconciling shipment with purchase order, recording damage or discrepancies, and performing receiving operations via computer, handheld devices, and industrial equipment safely and properly.
  • Maintains storeroom and distribution area by storing items according to established procedures, ensuring a clean, safe, and secured environment, organizing daily receipts, and changing stock locations as needed.
  • Ensures that all delivery functions are completed, including same-day delivery of premium freight orders, filling requisitions, preparing picking lists, confirmation, and delivery receipts, and delivering products using a delivery vehicle to offsite locations, while operating industrial equipment safely and properly.
  • Assures that inventory is appropriate and correct by reporting the need for additional supplies, assisting in weekly cycle counts, rotating stock to reduce outdated material, following up on shortages, damages, and outdated material with supervisors and the Procurement office, and performing physical counts of stock on hand twice a year.
  • Maintains the delivery vehicle and storeroom equipment by keeping the assigned vehicle clean, performing vehicle checklist, informing supervisor of servicing needs, and performing routine maintenance on forklift, electric pallet jack, push carts, and delivery flats.
  • Organizes deliveries by coordinating with vendors, truckers, and customers to ensure completeness and accuracy, and identifies and coordinates timely deliveries of air and refrigerated packages.
  • Maintains and distributes supplies and equipment to clinical areas as requested, adequately replenishing crash carts, ENT carts, airway boxes, and other clinical supply carts and packs.
  • Performs in accordance with Independence Health System universal behavioral/customer service standards and competencies to support the mission, vision, and values of the Organization.
  • Counts and par stocks floors for the two-bin system, scans floors at the hospital for par stocking, pulls par stock orders at the storeroom, and replenishes orders on the floor.
  • Reports any bar codes that do not scan to the supervisor.
  • Attends various education programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
