About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to exercise second level supervisory and managerial authorities over the Materiel Management Flight within the 502 Logistics Readiness Squadron (LRS) on three geographically separated locations. This role plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the 502 LRS Materiel Management Flight, exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities, and represents the 502 LRS with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. The position directs the Materiel Management Flight that is responsible for all retail materiel management functions across Joint Base San Antonio.

  • If authorized, PCS will be paid IAW JTR and AF Regulations.
  • If receiving an authorized PCS, you may be subject to completing/signing a CONUS agreement.
  • This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program
  • Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
  • The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver’s license is required for the position.
  • A 1-year supervisory probationary period is required if applicant selected has not previously met this requirement.
  • A pre-employment physical is required.
  • This is a Centrally Managed Position in the 0346 Logistics Management Series Field.
  • PCS will be paid in accordance with JTR Vol. 2 and applicable Air Force Regulations.
  • This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.
  • Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems.
  • Knowledge of the mission, roles, functions, organizational structures, and operation of the DoW, Air Force organizations, and logistics program operations that govern, interface with, and/or influence the logistics process.
  • Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of governing logistics regulations, procedures, and instructions to provide analytical interpretations and guidance to management officials and other logistics specialists.
  • Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level.
  • Knowledge of the mission, roles, functions, organizational structures, and operation of the DoW, Air Force organizations, and logistics program operations that govern, interface with, and/or influence the logistics process.
  • Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors.
  • Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of governing logistics regulations, procedures, and instructions to provide analytical interpretations and guidance to management officials and other logistics specialists.
