About The Position

A Business Services Group (BSG) Supervisor / Manager will be responsible for planning, supervising and completing multiple client engagements and provides a finished, complete work product for overview by Principals. A BSG Supervisor / Manager works directly with clients and clients’ accounting personnel and has become the primary point of contact for clients. A BSG Supervisor / Manager will be involved with the billing process and will supervise and train multiple lower-level accountants. A BSG Supervisor / Manager should be a sound generalist in all accounting and tax matters but has focused on an area of specialty or niche and continues to develop technical expertise pertinent to the practice. The position may be filled at either the Supervisor or Manager level depending on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Accounting certificate.
  • 5-7 years of public accounting experience in tax, accounting, advisory, or related services.
  • Previous supervisory experience required.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and business advisory services.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. tax regulations.
  • Knowledge of state and federal tax form processes and how to accurately prepare forms.
  • Ability to prioritize daily tasks and meet timely obligations with multiple clients.
  • Knowledge of accounting processes and advanced mathematical skills.
  • Experience consulting technical tax and accounting resources to resolve complex issues.
  • Skilled using various accounting software and experience troubleshooting common accounting program problems.
  • Personal integrity when working with personal and sensitive financial information.
  • Professional experience in financial forecasting, budgeting, and risk analysis.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate ownership of work product.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA or EA license preferred; required for Manager-level consideration.
  • Management experience preferred for Manager-level candidates.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews individual, partnership, S corporation, C corporation, trust and estate tax returns and workpapers prepared by staff and seniors.
  • Applies relevant accounting principles and tax laws while maintaining current knowledge of regulations, processes, and procedures.
  • Performs tax research and documents conclusions on technical issues.
  • Identifies tax planning opportunities and communicates recommendations to Principals and clients.
  • Assists with IRS and state tax notices and examinations.
  • Develops and maintains strong client relationships by anticipating needs, identifying opportunities for additional services, and providing proactive communication throughout the year.
  • Communicates effectively, professionally, and in a timely manner with clients and team members through correspondence, meetings, and other interactions.
  • Produces accurate and well-organized work products appropriate for the role and conducts thorough self-reviews to ensure quality and completeness.
  • Monitors engagement budgets, realization, and profitability; proactively communicates scope changes and recommends solutions when budgets or deadlines are at risk.
  • Utilizes KWC technology systems efficiently; adopts new applications and processes; and resolves technical issues as needed.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking by understanding KWC methods and practices; identifies root causes of issues; and evaluates, tests, and improves processes and solutions.
  • Provides leadership by supervising, mentoring, training and developing team members; fostering collaboration, delivering timely coaching and feedback, and promoting successful engagement outcomes.
  • Maintains the highest professional standards, demonstrating integrity and excellence while building client trust and supporting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Participates in networking and business development activities.
  • Assists Principals with proposals and new client onboarding.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.
  • Staff Level I, II and III and Senior Accountant.
  • May supervise Supervisors depending on position level and business needs.
  • Recruits, hires, and conducts performance evaluations.
  • Implements training, or identifies training opportunities.
  • Handles corrective action and termination as needed, and in accordance with firm policies.
