About The Position

KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools is seeking teachers for its summer school classrooms for Summer 2025. This position is open to candidates who are not current KIPP Jacksonville employees, provided they have certificated fingerprints on file with Duval County. Teachers will be assigned one grade level and will be responsible for creating a positive classroom environment, implementing curriculum, assessing students, collaborating with their team, building relationships with families, and other duties as assigned by the summer school admin team. The summer school program will partner with Teach for America, meaning teachers should be comfortable with a second adult present in the classroom during pre-service training for incoming Teach for America corps members. The summer school will be held at the campus located at 1440 McDuff Ave N. The program will run from June 8, 2026, through July 2, 2026, with teacher hours from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Required professional development will take place on June 4th and June 5th. Class sizes are expected to range from 20-25 students. Summer school will be offered for K-12 ESE, 3rd Grade (reading and math), 4th-7th Grade (math), 8th Grade (math, civics, reading), and High School (math, reading, ACT prep).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Relevant Florida Teaching Certification for the grade level you’ll be teaching
  • Positive attendance record
  • In good standing with your current school
  • Must be able to fully commit to all instructional days
  • At least one complete year of teaching experience with a proven track record of high achievement in the classroom
  • Passing a background check, as required by law
  • In accordance with Florida House Bill 531, this position requires a background screening through the Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.
  • Certificated fingerprints on file with Duval County
