About The Position

Illinois CancerCare has a student summer intern position available in the Informatics department. Interested students will work up to 20 hours per week for 6 to 8 weeks. Our summer internship program is designed to give high school, undergraduate and medical school students a chance to gain experience in a healthcare facility.

Requirements

  • High school or college student.
  • Currently pursuing or general interest in computer science, data science, information technology, healthcare informatics, or a related field.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Highly organized. Attention to detail and accuracy is required.
  • Manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Ability to distinguish and transcribe letters and numbers without transposition.
  • Ability to work on a desktop computer for extended periods of time.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with value-based data entry and abstraction.
  • Assist with patient portal items, including routing messages and basic support tasks.
  • Perform routine clerical and documentation support related to informatics initiatives.
  • Other clerical duties as assigned.
