About The Position

The Summer Camp Kitchen Assistant supports food preparation and kitchen operations at the YMCA summer camp in Dingman's Ferry, Pennsylvania. The role assists with meal preparation, dishwashing, cleaning, food storage, and packing supplies and food for campouts and cookouts. The position is seasonal and part-time, with listed pay of $370–$380 per week. The YMCA provides training and support, opportunities to learn and grow, and the chance to contribute to a nonprofit organization serving the community.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
High school diploma or equivalent.
At least one year of experience working in a kitchen or culinary environment.
Desire and ability to learn assigned tasks.
Enjoy working with children of all ages.
Strong leadership skills and a passion for member service and building and maintaining a culture of member service excellence.

Responsibilities

Assist with food preparation as directed by the Food Service Director, including cutting, peeling, and washing vegetables for the salad bar as needed.
Mix juice or drink mix for each meal.
Keep the milk machine full and operating correctly.
Clean spills in the kitchen and dining room.
Prepare and pack food for overnight campouts and cookouts.
Wash dishes, glasses, and silverware in the industrial dishwasher.
Wash pots and pans by hand as needed.
Keep the dishwasher area clean and safe.
Clean the kitchen and dining hall after each meal, ensure food is stored safely within an appropriate time frame, and prepare the kitchen for the next meal.
Take kitchen and dining room trash to the dumpster.
Sweep and mop the kitchen and dining room to keep the areas clean and safe.
Assist with putting away bulk food deliveries and kitchen supplies.
Help in any kitchen or dining room area as requested by the Food Services Director.
Assist with camp cleanup on the last day of the summer season.
