About The Position

Kokua Education is hiring part-time substitute teachers for the 2026–27 school year in Round Rock, Pflugerville, and the surrounding Austin area. Substitute teachers work in K–12 schools, follow the schedule they choose, and can accept assignments up to five days per week. The role places positive role models in classrooms to support students’ learning and help them recognize their potential. Assignments may also include lunch and recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and test proctoring. Pay is up to $200 per day, paid weekly via W-2. The stated rates are $129 per day for candidates with at least 48 college credits or an associate degree, $150 per day for candidates with a bachelor’s degree or higher, and $200 per day for long-term assignments at all qualification levels. Kokua says applicants may receive an offer within one week and provides support daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Background-check costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments. The role may also provide a pathway to permanent positions at high-performing K–12 schools.

Requirements

At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
At least 48 completed college credit hours.
Confidence managing a classroom of students.
Willingness to step in where needed, including supervision, tutoring, and test proctoring.
Pass state and federal background checks.
Include relevant experience working with students on the resume.
