About The Position

Wonderschool is hiring part-time preschool and daycare substitute teachers in Leland, North Carolina, and surrounding areas in Brunswick County. Substitute teachers fill in for teachers who are away due to vacation, illness, or personal matters, providing children with a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning experience. Work is available at local preschools and childcare centers that partner with Wonderschool. The role offers a flexible schedule: teachers can choose their working location, days, and hours. Shifts typically last 4 to 8 hours and occur between 6 AM and 6 PM. Compensation is $14–$18 per hour, up to $144 per day. Wonderschool provides a training and onboarding process and reimburses required training costs.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years old.
Have experience in child care, teaching, or working with children ages 0–5.
Be patient and dependable, and be enthusiastic about supporting young children as they learn and grow.
Be able to pass a state background check and complete a TB test and physical.
Have at least one of the following: a high school diploma or equivalent GED; a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential; an EDU 119 Early Childhood Credential; an ECE associate or bachelor's degree; or at least one year of experience working in a licensed childcare facility.

Responsibilities

Fill in for teachers on leave, including vacation, illness, or personal matters.
Provide children with a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning experience.
Engage children in activities such as educational games, arts and crafts, music, meals, and outdoor play.
Work with a team of teachers and follow the guidance of the onsite program director.
Communicate with families about their child's day and progress.
Complete Wonderschool's training and onboarding process.
