About The Position

Wonderschool is hiring preschool and daycare substitute teachers in Shallotte, North Carolina, and surrounding areas in Brunswick County. Substitute teachers fill in for teachers who are away due to vacation, illness, or personal matters, providing children with a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning experience. They support children through activities such as educational games, arts and crafts, music, meals, and outdoor play; work with teaching teams under the guidance of the onsite program director; and communicate with families about each child's day and progress. The role includes training and onboarding with Wonderschool. The schedule is flexible, with teachers able to choose their working location, days, and hours. Shifts typically last 4 to 8 hours and fall between 6 AM and 6 PM. Compensation is $14–$18 per hour, up to $144 per day, with additional bonuses and reimbursement for required training costs.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years old.
• Have experience in child care, teaching, or working with children ages 0–5.
• Be patient, dependable, and enthusiastic about supporting young children's learning and development.
• Be able to pass a state background check and complete a TB test and physical.
• Have at least one of the following: a high school diploma or GED; a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential; an EDU 119 Early Childhood Credential; an ECE associate or bachelor's degree; or at least one year of experience working in a licensed childcare facility.

Responsibilities

• Fill in for teachers on leave due to vacation, illness, or personal matters.
• Provide children with a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning experience.

• Work with a team of teachers and follow the guidance of the onsite program director.

• Complete Wonderschool's training and onboarding process.
